The primary difference is sustained output. The Mastervolt alternator is a standard design high performance alternator. They do deliver a high output for a short period of time, but as soon as they warm up they de-rate to 1/3 of their peak rate performance.

The Integrel generator has been optimised to offer the following

  • Software limited at 9kW
  • Sustained output ~8kW+
  • Diode pack and other sensitive electronics have been removed to an Intelligent controller
  • Removing the electronics allows better airflow and cooling, as does the large frame design
  • The Intelligent controller:
    • can determine if the boat is in gear or neutral and adjusts accordingly
    • can be programmed to provide very high output at low RPM
    • can be programmed to charge Lithium Ion batteries per a custom charge profile
    • contains charge algorithms are altered by
      • Engine power output
      • RPM
      • Temperature
      • Engine power curve vs. propeller power curve

The Mastervolt alternator comes as-is with very little flexibility regarding configuration for the above parameters.
