This information is NOT correct. The following extract is from letter received from Volvo France confirming that the load from Integrel is within the engine's tolerances. 

We have also conducted independent testing with Rolls Royce Royce labs where, after a series of 1,000 engine hours, we dismantled the engine, removed the crankshaft and bearings. Results showed no discernible abnormal wear on the engine than in normal operation.

We, Volvo Penta Europe Office France, authorize the installation of the Integrel 48V generator on our range of compact D2 50/60/75 engines, according to data provided by the manufacturer:
  • Peak electrical power output: 9kW
  • Maximum mechanical power at the crank at 3200rpm: 13.6kW
  • Electrical power at 1400rpm: 7,5kW
  • Mechanical power at the crank at 1400rpm: 9kW
  • Maximum torque at the crank (occurs at 1400rpm): 62Nm
